The red Messenicola by Winery Monsieur Nicolas (Messenicolas Estate - G. Karamitros) is a dry red blend composed of 70%Mavro Messenicola and 30% Syrah & Carignan, originating from Messenicolas, Karditsa (PGI Karditsa).
Appearance: Deep ruby color with purple highlights.
Aromas: Dominant notes of forest fruits (blackberry, raspberry) and violet, complemented by hints of clove and cinnamon due to aging.
Palate:Full-bodied yet with very soft tannins. It features balanced acidity and a long-lasting finish.
Vinification & Aging: The varieties are co-vinified and fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks under controlled temperatures. Following fermentation, the wine is transferred to small French oak barrels, where it matures for 12 months.
Aging Potential: It can age ideally for up to 10 years, developing aromas of red fruit jam and tertiary notes of leather, tobacco, sweet spices and nuts. If you plan to open an aged Messenicola (over 5 years old), it is recommended to use a decanter for 30-60 minutes to allow the wine to breathe and unfold its complex bouquet.
It pairs excellently with grilled red meats, game, red sauces and smoked cheeses. Best served at 16-18°C.
